Our Lives
Our nephew's birthday party. We spent the afternoon in the pool, grilled hamburgers on the patio then relaxed in the living room while our nephew opened his gifts.
There's never been a time when we didn't have dogs in our lives. Pictured here is Fred (beagle), Wellington (Lab) and Chalky (Parson Russell Terrier). Wellington passed away just a few months ago after a short illness. Not a day goes by that we don't miss his stinkiness.
Speaking of dogs, Robert recently went on a quail hunting trip with his new friend, "Doc." Doc's dog is named Ruby, but we call her Ruby Red Dress. Here's Robert and Ruby after the hunt with the eight quail that Ruby flushed out of the brush.
We pretty much thought we were fancy here so we took a picture ... in our kitchen. This was just before we went out for our anniversary dinner.

We love to travel. Every year, we go on a couple of trips. Kris is pictured here in front of a great wooden bull. Every few years, we travel to England to visit Robert's parents, who live on the English Channel.
This definitely wasn't a Night at the Museum, but we do enjoy getting out and about in the cities we visit. We are ever the lifelong learners and love to experience the culture of those around us.
England? Yup, Robert grew up there. Instead of basketball and football, English kids play soccer (fondly called football over there), rugby and cricket. Now, Robert plays goalkeeper on an adult soccer league. He also coaches girls' soccer during the summer, when he can.
We're famous for taking photos of ourselves when we're out and about. Here we were hiking on a hot sunny afternoon.
Life isn't all pretty pictures ... and this one certainly isn't. We'd been hiking all day, I'd just gotten out of the shower and we were pondering dinner options ... hey, we said "a day in the life."

We absolutely LOVE to walk. Our first house together was a small farm. Here, we're walking together early in the morning just up the road from our farm. It was a lovely little house.
Yeah, that's us at our wedding reception. I think we were a little tired of pictures. But, ya know, why take it all so seriously, after all!!
Okay okay, we'll throw a pretty one in for good measure. The trestle behind us was built by Kris's dad. This is in Kris's parents' back yard just after we got married.

We have a beagle named Fred and a Parson russell terrier named Chalky. We call them our stinkies because, well, they are stinky!!
Who doesn't love a beagle? (Fred is probably a beagle-dachshund mix but who's checking?) Fred hopped up on Kris' adirondack chair in the back yard one day and the sun captured his little eyes perfectly.
Chalky is three years old, and boy, is he something rotten. He's a parson russell terrier, which means he is full of spit and vinegar. But when he's not being a crazy boy, he's the most loving little sweetheart ever. At night, when he zonks out, there is no rousing him ... when that happens, we call him Dr. Zonko.
Fred simply knows how to live. On a cold winter morning, you'll most likely find him tucked under the covers in our bed.
If Chalky had his druthers, he'd be outside all the time, as he is here. You can see a little dab of snow on his nose. He doesn't like to hang out there by himself, though, so he always coaxes me and Robert outside to chase him or throw his ball.
Fred and Chalky are pretty much inseparable. Wherever Fred is, Chalky is not far behind.
